A Wedding in the Family

This past Sunday, Toby’s cousin was married at Fess Parker’s Doubletree Inn (which was the same place we were married 11+ years ago).  The bride and groom had the photographer snap pictures of the guests and print them out as favors for the guests.  Lucy found one of the roses from the ceremony and carried it around with her all night.  The photographer got a great picture of Lucy with her rose.

Gran had a fun time doing Lucy’s hair.  Here is Lucy with a weed flower before she found her rose.

Surprise!

This year is Poppa and YaYa’s Ruby wedding anniversary.  Toby and Jan have been planning a surprise party for them for about 6 months.  The party included 25 of their closest friends coming to our house for brunch and then a Santa Barbara tour on the Land Shark followed by a dinner at Moby Dick on Stearns Wharf .
It was very hard to keep the surprise for so long, with so many people.  There were a couple of incidents that could have blown it, especially near the actual date, but it turned out to be a complete surprise.  At the brunch, many people gave toasts / roasts, and Jan’s was especially heartfelt.

A successful surprise!

Halloween Pictures

Halloween was a fun time for our family. Max was The Human Torch and was thrilled to have a muscle shirt. He got the costume about a week before Halloween and wore it for many days around the house. As you can see in the last picture, he loved to pose with his new muscles. Lucy was a beautiful princess and had a great time on the Halloween Parade at her pre-school.

A New Place To Nap

Lucy found a new place to nap this weekend.

We had a really long work weekend.  Pop was over on Friday / Saturday.  Then Yaya came on Sunday morning and we worked until lunch time.  G / G Seal came up and we had lunch at Gianfranco‘s for Toby’s birthday celebration.

We worked like crazy to prepare for the guest’s (Don & Camille) arrival on Friday afternoon.  Toby is moving the kitchen upstairs and last night we prepared and ate our first meal in the upstairs area.

Can you spot Lucy?  She’s hiding.  In the drawer, of course.

The Tea Fire Burns 100+ homes in Santa Barbara

Last night from our loft balcony, we could see a fire burning in Montecito.  Toby found out that it was burning through Westmont and all the students had been evacuated.  The house next door is a rental with 3 Westmont students / recent grads and at about 10p Toby brought them up to look at the fire from our roof.  The group lifted up prayers.  Carpinteria is relatively far from the fires.

The best information is at The Santa Barbara Independent Newspaper  although the website is very slow right now.

A nifty map of the evacuation areas and the fires is at Google Maps
