Drywall Hanging Marathon

The drywallers are flying.  They started Thursday afternoon, worked all day Friday, all day Saturday and are working all day Sunday.  When my job was bid, they hadn’t had work for over 2 months.  Now he is juggling 4 jobs, so they are trying to get all the hours in that they can.

Did it snow inside?

The insulation was installed today.  I thought it might be a 2 day job, but Mario from Broken Drum Insulation had the job finished in just a few hours.  Toby called before 3p to let me know I could schedule the required inspection.  I called the inspector, but his voicemail said that he was on vacation until Monday, 3 Aug.  The nerve!  I’ve waited this long, I guess another couple of days won’t make much of a difference.

Below are some pictures of the whiteness in the walls.

So beautiful – great weather and hardly anyone on the lake.

I Thought We Were Done Upstairs

I am learning what every homeowner already knows.  You are never really done working on your home.  In November, I thought that we had finished with the construction upstairs.  These past 6 months have been easy living in our completely finished upstairs.

However, you can see by the picture below that we now have the beginnings of a new wall separating the area where our bed lives from the other area of the bedroom.  Kevin S. was on site on Saturday and built this wall for us in record time.  I had 3 jobs for him to do (including the wall), and he got all of it done before lunch.  Man that guy is fast.

I am still in the process of pulling network / computer / tv cables down stairs.  When that is done insulation goes in.  When insulation passes inspection, then drywall goes up.  After drywall passes inspection then floors, doors and trim go in.  I am hoping for a 1st week of August start for the drywall.
