Franken-Iron-Robot-Man

Max has always loved scotch tape.  He has made tons of guns and belts and boxes and more out of paper and scotch tape.

Recently, he graduated to combining other materials with scotch tape and he wanted the world to see his creation.

I recognize that the shoulders are pencil sharpeners, the left foot is a checker, and his fingers are paper (can’t quite give up the paper).  Who knows where the rest of this Franken-monster comes from?

Uses For Carpet

My kids like the new carpet we had put in the loft a few weeks ago.  They use it for ‘sledding’ on cardboard down the stairs.

And for resting when the sledding is over.

Google Street View

Google Street View is a feature of Google Maps and Google Earth that provides 360° panoramic street-level views and allows users to view parts of selected cities and their surrounding metropolitan areas at ground level.  (from Wikipedia)

Someone went by and took pictures of the neighborhood most of Carpinteria, but when I key in my address, Google shows the alley (Cedar Place) in back.  If you follow the arrows around the block you can get to the front of the house.  It looks like these pictures were taken at the end of last year, as the scaffolding on the East side came down around January 2008.

Here is a link to 4922 8th Street, which seems to be the closest one can get to the actual address.

Something Wonderful

Can you see something wonderful in the picture below?  I can.

If you look closely, you will see that the shop vac is plugged directly into the wall. That’s right. We have power upstairs. Edison was onsite on Friday, 10 Oct 2008, to switch the electrical service from overhead to underground. When they did this the new meter box was energized and power was on!. The Edison planner was sooo happy to close out this project. He made his first site visit in September of 2006. I wonder if having the project open for so long affected his ‘stats’. I took great pleasure in rolling up the extension cords that have served so faithfully. Good riddance!

We have begun to do the furnishings of the new areas. Max and I assembled two bookshelves for the loft and hung a shelf in the powder room. Also, I cleaned the glass doors upstairs. It took almost 2 hours to clean the six glass doors, inside and out. I was doing the work in the late afternoon when the sun was streaming through those windows, so I was aware of every little streak. This cleaning was mostly to get all the grime off. I’ll shine the windows later.
