Food Adventures

I am not by nature an adventurous eater. I prefer the known dish to the exotic dish. We had a department lunch and I was out voted in the decision of where to eat. We ended up at Swan’s
Korean BBQ
restaurant in lovely Oxnard. We got 3 beef dishes and 1 squid dish.
I tried the squid. The nubbies didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would, but
it was just too chewy. Also, 2 of the beef dishes we ordered had to be cooked by us
at our table. Ugh! What’s the point of a restaurant if I have to do my own cooking.
I can do that at home. This is the main reason I don’t go to The
Palms
in Carpinteria.
And to top it all off, the lunch gave me heartburn. Merry Christmas! 🙁

Gave Blood Today

My employer, Salem, had the United
Blood Services
in our parking lot in a mobile blood donation unit today. I have given blood with them before, and did not have a good experience last time. Last time, I got very fidgety and uncomfortable about 1/2 way through and had to stay in the blood mobile for an extra amount of time while they watched me.

This time, I brought my book on CD (The Jansen Directive by Robert Ludlum) and some headphones, thinking it would distract me and keep me from wigging out. It did! I don’t know if I was bleeding faster today or if it was all about not thinking about what I was doing, but the time seemed to fly. I only got to listen to about 5 minutes of my book. Since it took so little time actually hooked up to the bag, I just kicked back on the recovery couch and finished off my CD.

First Gift Exchange for Max

Today Max had his first gift exchange with a couple of his friends. He received Air Drum Sticks and a new Buzz Lightyear t-shirt. He gave out Bob The Builder CDs. His drumsticks promptly became ‘shooting guns’ because the snare drum setting is a nice rat-a-tat-tat.

He loves Buzz Lightyear so much that he asked me to make some Buzz Lightyear wings for him a couple of weekends ago. 1 cardboard box, 2 pieces of twine, 1 salad bowl, and some duct tape later, he was ready to head ‘To Infinity and Beyond!’
