Palm Springs 2013

Yaya had a time share bonus week that needed to be used up so we grabbed a last minute (at least last minute for us) vacation to Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas II Palm Desert, California.

First impressions are very positive.

The unit is a 2 bedroom lockout and Max and Lucy are thrilled to have their own keyed entrance along with the coffee maker and mini-microwave.  They don’t have any plans to use these, but they like having them.  The unit appears to have been recently upgraded and includes a big tub, granite countertops and some of the highest quality pots/pans I’ve seen in a timeshare.  Lucy really likes the colors of the décor (orange couch with aquamarine accessories).

Toby did some pre-planning to get us a unit close to the pool area that has an 18-inch deep kiddie pool.  We went right in and swam for about an hour upon arrival.  The water in the pools was very warm.  Once the sun went down, the air chilled a bit, so the warmer pool water felt really nice.

This morning while Max and Roly went with Toby to the grocery store, Lucy and I went to a complimentary cookie decorating session.  After consuming our art, we took a walk around the complex.  Well, I walked.  Lucy held onto me while standing on her skateboard.  I heard a ‘Giddy Up’ or two.  From our area tour, she and I decided that we had the best pool closest to us. Later in the afternoon, Max, Lucy and Toby went to see the movie Epic .

Yaya and Poppa are spending time with Jan, Em & N8 at another timeshare in Newport this same week.  Yaya was able to finagle her points system to take that last few days of the week here at this resort, so we will see them this weekend.

One final note:  We stopped for a road meal at Fuddrucker’s in Ontario on the way here.  It was a great meal.  It was also next door to a Krispy Kreme that had a geocache in its parking lot, so double bonus!
