Everyone loves when Poppa comes over for the weekend, but no one more so than Lucy. She loves Poppa and all the fun she has with him. This past weekend when he came over, he brought the long balloons and was twisting them into little poodle dog shapes. She walked around with a balloon dog in her hand all day.
Since they are balloons, and she toddles, she would often pop them. She would cry
and cry until Poppa stopped work and twisted her a new ‘doggie’. When it was time
for bed, we let her take one of the balloon dogs to bed. We were going to go in after
she was asleep and remove it from her death grip. Poppa went in about a half an hour
after she went to bed. Her eyes were closed, but she still cried when he tried to
take it from her hands. She really loves her balloon doggies. We finally got the balloon
out of her crib about 3 hours after she went to bed. Even after they untwisted and
were just lumpy balloons, she would walk around with her doggie. The picture below
shows Poppa twisting Eloise a new doggie. This doggie is an ’emergency replacement’.
It is hard to tell in the picture, but Lucy’s cheeks are wet with her tears after
having popped the previous doggie.
